Woory Industrial Select AX54A for G80 Sedan HVAC Solution

Trondheim, Norway, 25th March 2024 – Continuing on from the success of the Genesis GV80, TouchNetix today announces that the aXiom AX54A chip has been selected by Woory Industrial Co. Ltd. for the all-new Genesis G80 sedan. The aXiom AX54A chip operates the heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) touch and force controls system located within the centre console.

The AX54A chip combines high performance multi-touch and force sensing which is enabled by aXiom’s single chip technology. By implementing force sensing, accidental user interaction can be avoided, requiring additional user confirmation to safely operate the HVAC controls. This single-chip solution saves space on the PCB and delivers a modern, safety-enhancing user experience.

‘We’re delighted that Woory Industrial has entrusted us to deliver the HVAC touch solution in the new G80 sedan,’ remarked Dr. Gaute Myklebust, CEO at TouchNetix. ‘Our AX54A chip is an excellent solution for the operation of HVAC controls and the continued faith in our product from Woory Industrial and Genesis highlights our expertise and reliability within the automotive sector.’

The AX54A is the perfect chip for smaller touch and force solutions and delivers a whole host of additional features including:

  • 3D proximity and hover sensing for intuitive air gestures.
  • Unique multi-force sensing and low-latency haptic triggering.
  • Integrated support for passive and active Dial-on-Display.
  • Supporting curved shapes, thick lenses and finger guiding overlays.
  • Versatility across smart surfaces, including wood, plastic, foam, and leatherette.
  • Parallel multi-touch and multi-force, enabling safety-enhancing systemic redundancy.
